White House
The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. It has served as the home for every American president since John Adams in 1800, making it one of the most recognisable symbols of the US government. The building was designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban in a neoclassical style, inspired by the Leinster House in Dublin, and it was constructed between 1792 and 1800. Over the years, the structure has undergone numerous renovations and expansions, most notably the addition of the West Wing, which houses the Oval Office, and the East Wing, which serves as office space for the First Lady and her staff.
