Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, known professionally as Shakira, is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer born on 2 February 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia. She is widely considered one of the most successful Latin artists in music history, recognised for her distinctive voice, intricate belly-dancing skills, and her ability to write and perform in both Spanish and English. Since her breakthrough in the late 1990s, she has achieved immense global success with iconic tracks such as "Whenever, Wherever," "Hips Don't Lie," and the FIFA World Cup anthem "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)."
