Saturn is named after the god of agriculture or is also called the 'ring planet'. Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system. Saturn takes about 29.46 years to orbit the sun. And like Jupiter, it is a gas planet.

Saturn was the first planet whose rings we could see. Only much later were rings around Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune also seen. Just like Venus, you can sometimes see Saturn from Earth with the naked eye!

The rings of Saturn are a huge amount of sand and stones and they rotate like millions of moons around Saturn. The temperature on Saturn is about -185 degrees Celsius. The diameter of Saturn is 120,500 kilometres. The distance to the sun is about 1.43 billion kilometres. Saturn has 82 moons, compared to Earth that is a lot. One of these moons, which is called Titan, is larger than the planet Mercury.
