Queen are an English rock band formed in London in 1970. The classic line-up consisted of Freddie Mercury as lead singer, Brian May on guitar, Roger Taylor on drums, and John Deacon on bass. They are one of the most successful music acts in history, known for their unique sound that blends stadium rock, pop, opera, and heavy metal. The band achieved massive global fame in the 1970s and 1980s with legendary songs such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions," and "Another One Bites the Dust." Freddie Mercury, widely considered one of the greatest singers in rock history, died in 1991, which deeply affected the band. John Deacon retired from the music industry in the 1990s but remains involved in the business side of the band. Since then, Brian May and Roger Taylor have continued to keep the Queen legacy alive. From 2011 to 2024, they toured extensively as "Queen + Adam Lambert," with the American singer performing lead vocals. As of June 2026, the band is taking a break from touring following the conclusion of their Rhapsody Tour, while the members focus on their own projects. Despite not having released a new studio album since 1995, Queen’s music remains incredibly popular, and their Greatest Hits compilation continues to be one of the best-selling albums of all time.
