One World Trade Center
One World Trade Center, often referred to as the Freedom Tower, is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Standing at a symbolic height of 1,776 feet (541 metres), it is the tallest building in the United States and the Western Hemisphere. The tower was designed by architect David Childs and his firm, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, following the destruction of the original Twin Towers in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Construction began in 2006, and the building officially opened to tenants in 2014, serving as a powerful symbol of resilience and renewal for the city and the nation.
