Olaf Scholz

Olaf Scholz is a German politician who served as the Chancellor of Germany from 2021 to 2025. He was born in 1958 in Osnabrück and grew up in Hamburg, where he became a lawyer specialising in labour law. He has been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) since he was a teenager and held several high-level government roles throughout his career, including serving as the Mayor of Hamburg and as the Federal Minister of Finance. As chancellor, he led a coalition government that focused on modernising the German economy and addressing the impacts of global crises. After his government faced internal disagreements regarding the national budget, early elections were held in early 2025, and he left office in May 2025.
