Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a massive sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota, United States. It features the heads of four iconic American presidents—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln—each approximately 18 metres tall. The monument was created by sculptor Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum, to symbolise the nation's birth, growth, development, and preservation. Construction began in 1927 and, following many delays and technical challenges, was completed in 1941.
