Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg is an American businessman and computer programmer who is best known for co-founding the social media service Facebook. He was born on 14 May 1984 in White Plains, New York. While studying computer science at Harvard University in 2004, he launched Facebook from his dormitory room, which quickly grew to become one of the most popular websites in the world. In 2021, the parent company of Facebook was renamed Meta Platforms to show its new focus on developing immersive digital experiences, often referred to as the metaverse. As of June 2026, Zuckerberg serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of Meta, where he is currently leading a major shift in the company’s focus toward artificial intelligence and large-scale computing infrastructure. Outside of his work at Meta, he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, co-founded the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in 2015, a philanthropic organisation that supports projects in science, education, and community development.
