King Charles III
King Charles III is the King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. Born in London in 1948, he is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Before becoming King, he was known as the Prince of Wales, a title he held for more than 50 years, making him the longest-serving heir apparent in British history. He ascended to the throne on 8 September 2022, following the death of his mother, and his official coronation took place in May 2023. As King, his duties are largely ceremonial, involving representing the United Kingdom on the world stage, meeting with government leaders, and supporting various charitable causes, particularly those related to the environment and the arts. In early 2024, it was announced that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, though he has continued to carry out royal duties while undergoing treatment. As of June 2026, he continues to reign, recently hosting international leaders and engaging in diplomatic visits.
