Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge is a massive suspension bridge that spans the Golden Gate, the narrow strait connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Located in California, it serves as the primary link between the city of San Francisco and Marin County to the north. When it opened in 1937, it was both the longest and the tallest suspension bridge in the world, and it remains one of the most recognised symbols of the United States. The bridge was designed by engineer Joseph Strauss, with critical aesthetic input from architect Irving Morrow, who famously chose the signature "International Orange" colour to ensure the structure would be visible through the thick fog that frequently rolls into the bay.
