The Chrysler Building is an iconic Art Deco skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. Completed in 1930, it was built to serve as the headquarters for the Chrysler Corporation and stands as a shining example of the architectural style popular in the early 20th century. At 319 metres tall, it held the title of the tallest building in the world for 11 months until it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931. The building is most famous for its distinctive terraced crown, which is composed of seven radiating arches made of stainless steel. These arches are decorated with triangular windows that resemble a sunburst, and the structure is further adorned with metal gargoyles and eagles modeled after Chrysler car ornaments, which give it a unique and dramatic profile.
