Ceres
Ceres is a dwarf planet. Ceres was discovered on January 1, 1801 by Giuseppe Piazzi and is named after the Roman goddess of arable farming and motherly love. The dwarf planet is located between Mars and Jupiter. In 2015, the Dawn space probe came near Ceres to investigate the dwarf planet.
It is the only dwarf planet in the asteroid belt and has a diameter of 950 kilometres. The orbit of this dwarf planet is 2.5 to 3 times further away from the sun than the earth, about 375 to 450 million kilometres from the sun.
