Giorgia Meloni

Giorgia Meloni is an Italian politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Italy since October 2022. She is the first woman to ever hold this office in Italy. Born in Rome in 1977, she became involved in youth politics as a teenager and later helped co-found the Brothers of Italy party in 2012. Before becoming prime minister, she served as a member of the Italian parliament and was the youngest government minister in the country's history when she was appointed Minister for Youth in 2008. As prime minister, she leads a right-wing coalition government and has focused on issues such as national identity, migration control, and economic policy. As of June 2026, she continues to lead Italy, though her government has recently faced challenges following the defeat of a proposed judicial reform in a national referendum.
